SMS Mom's Banana Apple Bread.....

Our SMS recipe of the week was Mom's Banana Apple Bread and I had actually bought bananas several days before, so they were really black, yummy! This bread had an apple twist to the recipe; you saute apples, in brown sugar and butter, until they are soft, let them cool and then add them to the batter. The apples made the bread very moist and, for me, almost over powered the banana flavor, not in a bad way, just different. My DH preferred Dorie's banana cake, that we made a few weeks ago, because of a more pronounced banana flavor.
This week's recipe was chosen by Joy of Hot Oven Warm Heart. Check out Joy's blog for the recipe.

Hi Robin!

Thank you so much for baking along with me this week! I’m really glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe- but I'm sorry that it didn't have a strong enough banana flavor for you and your husband. I agree that the apples are a prominent part of the bread, but I think they compliment the other ingredients well. It's just a bit different than you might expect from a traditional banana bread.

Your loaf looks beautiful and perfectly moist- great job! Hope you're having a great week and I look forward to hearing from you again soon! :)

<3,
Joy

What great looking apple banana bread! I loved this recipe because of how rustic and comforting the aroma and flavor of the bread really is.

You know, when we were growing up, my family had chickens and I still have mental repercussions of cleaning chicken poopoo off the eggs first thing in the morning. It took me years to get to the point of being able to eat eggs. =D

Thanks for the Fair wishes. I will know soon (by the end of this week) and add a new post to my blog shortly thereafter.
